What is Kickstarter, you ask? According to board member, Andy Baio, “Kickstarter aims to let creative people of all kinds — journalists, artists, musicians, game developers, entrepreneurs, bloggers — raise money for their projects by connecting directly with fans, who receive exclusive access and rewards in exchange for their patronage.”
Girls Rock Camp Houston’s goal is to raise $3,000 with a pledge minimum of only $5.00. Yes, it is a big chunk of change, but in the wise words of George Harrison, “It’s gonna take money, a whole lotta spending money, it’s gonna take plenty of money… to do it right child”.
The fundraising deadline is August 1, 2010. If the goal is reached by the deadline, then everyone who has pledged will be charged via Amazon Payments. If the goal’s NOT reached, nobody is charged. IT’S ALL OR NOTHING.
GRCH is offering small tokens of our appreciation based on pledge amount. The prizes are described on our kickstarter project page.
As a project backer, your monetary contribution will help fund Girls Rock Camp Houston’s musical equipment needs (such as instruments, amps, PAs, guitar strings, ear plugs, etc.), materials and supplies for our non musical workshops, and scholarships for families who cannot afford to pay the full tuition to attend the camp.
It takes a village to raise a Girls Rock camp.
